Kristin Short, LCPC

I am a licensed clinician (LCPC) with a strong passion in guiding parents, children & teens through challenging times in their lives. Whether it is anxiety, depression, social stressors, sensory integration issues, behavioral concerns in school, or strained parent/child relationships, we will navigate a path together to manage our day to day.

I graduated from The Johns Hopkins School of Education, with a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling. I am a Board Approved Supervisor in the State of Maryland for Licensed Graduate Professional Counselors. In addition to working privately with parents & children ages 3 through 17, I work as a school counselor in Washington D.C. I consult with schools (Pk 3 - high school) to develop behavioral plans for students with social emotional needs & challenging behaviors. I am certified in DIRFloortime, which is a training program that was created to be a change agent to help providers better understand child development, human development, developmental disabilities, and autism. When my journey into the field of mental health began in New York City, I was fortunate to be an integral part of educational teams in many different school settings and philosophies. Having worked in roles as both a behavioral consultant & school counselor, I firmly believe that collaboration & communication among the child, school staff and / or other outside providers give children and parents the best chance of success in achieving their goals.

I reside in Kensington, MD with my husband and two children, ages 12 & 10.
